Bryn Primary School
Ysgol Y Bryn

Dear Parents

Another term moves towards its conclusion and it has been a busy time for staff and pupils here at the school. I hope you all found our parent consultations and half-year reports helpful and informative. On behalf of Erin and Freya McCarthy, I would like to thank everyone who has donated Easter Eggs to benefit disadvantaged children in our community. Having them stored in my office has been a real test of my willpower! May I wish you all a very happy and restful Easter.

Year 6 are still recovering from an action packed adventure weekend in Llanwrtwd Wells. They were a real credit to the school and we were proud of their positive ‘have-a-go’ attitude to new and often quite scary experiences.

Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter @BrynSchool. Our Twitter feeds are fairly chirping with pictures and information about what’s going on in school. If you don’t have a Twitter account, you can view the information from the homepage of our website

When the Local Authority changed their information system last year we all mourned the loss of our text messaging information system. I am pleased to announce that they are making a comeback this summer. This will be in addition to alerts and information that can be found on the school app, email, website and Twitter. We are always striving to improve our communication with parents and hopefully this will plug any gaps. It is very important however that you keep the school supplied with an up to date mobile number.

I know I’m going on about it but please take a minute or two to complete our parent survey at or access it directly by visiting

An early notification that Y5 will be having their swimming sessions in the second half of the summer term (see dates below). They will need to have their swimming kit in school with them every day. As usual, the school is covering the cost of the lessons but we would appreciate a contribution of 50p per pupil per lesson towards the cost of transport.

A quick reminder that school meals will cost £2:40 per day from April 11th. I have been asked by the Authority to remind parents that school meals must be paid for in advance, preferably for the week ahead. We have post boxes in Breakfast Club and main reception for clearly marked envelopes to be deposited. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.

Here are the dates we have for you so far. Doubtless others will be added so keep an eye on The Bryn School App and Website for new dates as they are fixed:
